Eugenia Tusquets was born in Barcelona and she is an artist. Even if painting has been her main activity in the past thirty years, she has also taken the opportunity of dedicating herself, during all this time, to different aspects of writing.

Often, she has combined both tasks, like in the 70s when she collaborated in the program Tiempo Libre of TVE (the main Spanish public broadcasting channel) writing scripts for the art section. Or, later, once settled in the US where she resided for over ten years, working as an art critic for various cultural magazines in the Latino community of San Francisco and the Bay Area. Before living in the States, she resided for over a year in Mexico where, besides exhibiting her art work in Guadalajara and Mexico City, she established intense links with the artistic and cultural milieus of both cities which impregnated her art with the invigorating local colorfulness.

This triggered important changes in her art work which became enriched with the Californian crossbreeding to yield to her unique pictorial style, already mature when she returned to Barcelona in the 90’s.

Since then, Eugenia Tusquets has exhibited her paintings on numerous occasions in Europe, the U.S. and Latin America. Her art work has received several awards, among them a first prize in the national painting contest, Bay Arts 82 (with George Neubert, director at the time of the San Francisco MOMA, as president of the jury) and honorable mentions at the state paint competition Hayward Forum for the Arts and at the Marin County national contest, also in California.
